Pop Music Video Analysis 2

Jonas Blue- Perfect Strangers

Mise-En-Scene

Location- The location of this film is Cape Town in South Africa, there are various locations used such as the beach, an aquarium and some streets of Cape Town.

Costume- The actors in the music video are wearing casual summery clothing. Additionally, the actors are wearing many different colours such as red, blue, black etc which relate to the colour of clothing the people in Cape Town are wearing. Each time the location in the video changes so does the costume of the actor/actress.

Narrative- It features a woman (Victoria Scholtz) always coincidentally meeting the same man (Devin Dollery) wherever she goes. They then come together to help bring fun to the children in South Africa, with the man introducing them to skateboarding and the woman introducing them to breakdancing while falling in love in the process.

Props- The main prop used in the video is a skateboard as the man in the video introduces the people of Cape Town to skateboarding in order for them to have fun and try something new.

Colour scheme- Bright Colours through out the video until the ending where it is darker due to there being a sunset however creates a romantic effect.

Camerawork

Two Shot- At the start of the video there is a two shot of the man and woman. This shows that they are equal and together and therefore foreshadows the outcome of this music video as they get together and fall in love.

Point of view shot- Puts the audience in the mans position and shows the audience  who the man is staring at. Just before the point of view shot there is a tracking shot behind the girl where you see them walk past one another and the audience witness the man look at the woman so the point of view shot helps understand who the man is looking at.

Close up- There is close ups of both the man and the woman as when they are in the market they both stare each other through pieces of jewellery. The close ups indicate to the audience how they are both feeling as you can see the man smile at the women and the women blushes highlighting how they feel for one another.

Long shot- There is a long shot of when the man jumps of the diving board and the cliff, this helps portray the location of the music video and shows the audience that the location has changed from the previous shot.

Editing

Cuts to the beat- Making the music and the video cut in time making the music video look professional and of high quality. This also quickens up the narrative as each time the music cuts to the beat the location of the video changes which means that there is another occasion of when the man and woman meet.

Fast paced editing- A lot of shots in a short amount of time which keeps with the beat of the music making the video look of a high quality.

Shot reverse shot- This shows the journey of both the male and female actors as one shot goes from the woman in the aquarium, to the man in the aquarium and then finishes with a shot of the woman. The shot reverse shot is used through out the video as it indicates the actors are always together in the same place.
